Description
DFO (1,8-diafluoren-9-one) is an analog of ninhydrin that reacts with amino acids, and is an effective reagent for developing latent fingerprints on porous surfaces. Due to its fluorochrome properties, DFO has the additional ability when used with the proper alternate light and filter, to fluoresce and enable the examiner to eliminate patterned and multicolor backgrounds of latent prints. Available in a convenient spray formula or in powder form for agencies who prefer to mix their own DFO. The powder has a slightly longer shelf life than the pre-mixed spray.
